Many NBAS trainees have described the difficulty in practicing and perfecting the techniques of the Scale during the self-study phase of the training process - the time between the training workshop and the certification session. In response, the Brazelton Institute has added two new features to the training program - a training video and a handbook. The video features an overview of the Scale and step-by-step administration with a variety of trainers and newborns. The handbook is similarly organized but has more detail on administering and scoring the Scale. We hope these new materials will meet trainees' need for support materials to reinforce what was learned in the workshop, to help in organizing and remembering the seemingly endless number of details, and to offer an opportunity to view (again and again) a standard administration of the Scale.
